Music has no frontiers and BHQP, the international duet founded by Chinese DJ pioneer BEN HUANG and French saxophonist, composer and producer QUENTIN PAQUIGNON, is probably its best illustration.
Eclecticism is the common DNA of this two artists: both dancers, musicians, one photographer, the other one painter, BHQP doesn't root its inspiration only from music. Rooted on multicultural backgrounds, the main goal of BHQP is to share its passion for life through music with a worldwide audience.

From funk, jazz, house deep groove to minimal techno, BHQP doesn’t lock itself into one music style, the duet love to surprise its audience.
Shanghai born BEN HUANG set off on his creative path as a student of modern dance and fine arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. He then dipped his toes in the fashion world but with a major climate shift on the way in the dance music scene, BEN HUANG gave up a budding career in fashion and found his calling in the Beijing music scene. Self taught BEN HUANG single-handedly kickstarted Beijing’s club scene back in the mid-nineties. His creative expression comprised of varying styles from Disco,Funk, Jazz, House to Techno. BEN HUANG’s music transported Beijing and Shanghai’s small underworld and kicked down its doors to the sounds from Paris to Berlin.
In no time, BEN HUANG became one of the most heavily sought after DJs in Beijing and Shanghai. His sounds impressed European promoters and made him one of the funkiest exports to come out from the Middle Kingdom. BEN HUANG became one of the first ever Chinese DJ to break into the international scene, playing in venues from the Parisian Elysee-Montmartre, Tresor Berlin to the famed Zurich Street Parade, alongside the world’s best. He has shared the stage with the likes of Laurent Garnier, Derrick May, Ritchie Hawtin and burned the airwaves on Paris’ Radio FG. Back home, HUANG helped organize the ultimate rave event The Great Wall Party, BEN HUANG is indeed the pioneer of clubbing in China and has garnered praise and respect from his peers at home and abroad. His current mix work for artists like Faye Wong keep him one of the most in-demand DJ’s in China.
French saxophone player, composer and producer QUENTIN PAQUIGNON studied music and ballet dancing in conservatory since the age of 5. Awarded by several first prizes of classical saxophone and musical chamber contests, QUENTIN PAQUIGNON built his eclectic musical journey by performing with symphonic and military orchestras, caribbean band Jeff Joseph and Gramacks New Generation, Erik Truffaz Quartet, Zhou Bing Qian Orchestra, Coco Zhao before crossing the path of electronic music when QUENTIN PAQUIGNON started to perform at Unïco Shanghai. During 4 years, QUENTIN PAQUIGNON expressed his musicality with international famous djs such as DJ Gilles Peterson, DJ Maestro (Blue Note Records), FKJ (French Kiwi Juice), before meeting his future creative partner BEN HUANG.
Together they created BHQP and quickly started to perform in numerous clubs and festivals around China.
QUENTIN PAQUIGNON is also the founder of the immersive art collective THE POLYMORPH EXTRA which won several awards in international film festivals around the world with its short animated movie LEONOR’S LULLABY. QUENTIN PAQUIGNON’s first movie was also selected among The Chemical Brothers, or Radiohead music videos at the international music film festival Seeyousound 2017 in Turin (Italy).
In 2016, QUENTIN PAQUIGNON co-founded with French sound engineer Benjamin L’Hotellier the UK record label imrsv records™, specialized in immersive audio recordings and live productions (3D audio, binaural, 5.1 and 7.1).
